MEET SURVIVAL SWIM INSTRUCTOR, ALYSSA NEIDER
Alyssa discovered the world of survival swim lessons in 2013 while living in Hawaii. During a visit to the local community pool with her daughter, Colbie, she noticed a child around the same age demonstrating the “swim-float-swim” technique. Intrigued, she spoke with the child’s mother, who introduced her to the concept of self-rescue swim lessons. Inspired and determined, Alyssa enrolled Colbie in lessons just a few weeks later. Colbie successfully completed the program, and the experience sparked a passion in Alyssa that would shape her future.
Alyssa began researching survival swim programs in the area. She was surprised to find that there was only one instructor in the entire state—and they were located two hours away. Motivated by the need for more accessible training, Alyssa applied to the Infant Swimming Resource (ISR) Instructor Training and Development Program. She was accepted in 2014 and has been dedicated ever since to teaching children essential, life-saving water survival skills. Now back in Middleton, Alyssa provides survival swim lessons to families in Madison and surrounding communities. As a retired Army wife—her husband, Tim, served 20 years on active duty—Alyssa brings a deep sense of commitment and service to her work. When she’s not in the water teaching, she enjoys spending time with Tim and their 14-year-old daughter, Colbie. Alyssa is also a proud dog mom to Kona, a Weimaraner, and Kala, a Belgian Malinois. In her free time, Alyssa loves running, attending her daughter’s various activities, and connecting with new families to share the importance of water safety. She looks forward to helping your little ones build both survival swim skills and a lifelong love for the water. Certifications/Education: Alyssa holds her ISR certification (8- week long certification with more than 60 hours of in water hands on training to include, child psychology, physiology & anatomy). Alyssa also holds her CPR/AED & First Aid certification from the American Red Cross. Alyssa holds her BS in Sport Administration and MS in Education. |
